Fire Ants
|
If you practice the two-step method for fire ant control, September is the time to spread your Fall bait. The two-step method of fire ant control involves broadcasting bait once in the Fall and once in the Spring, then using a mound treatment on problem ant colonies (ones in high-traffic areas) as they arise.
We can continue to control fire ants and reduce re-infestation if as many of us as possible broadcast the bait close to the same time. FCCA will broadcast bait in our common areas the week of September 11, and we’re asking residents to treat your yards that same week.
If you use one of the products containing fipronil such as "TopChoice" or "Over-n-Out" that controls ants for a full season, you don’t need any additional treatments.
