FCCA Residential Street Tree Pruning

In an effort to provide residents a service that creates beautiful, uniformly and properly pruned street tree canopies in compliance with the new City of Sugar Land ordinance and FCCA guidelines, FCCA has contracted with Arbor Care, Inc., to prune the residential street trees within the Association. While the City of Missouri City does not have an ordinance regarding street tree pruning, FCCA members residing in Missouri City are included in  Association guidelines and will receive the same benefit from this service.
Arbor Care, Inc. has been in business for 20 years and is a Houston-based, full-service tree care specialist firm providing fully insured professional services. Included in their staff are six ISA-Certified Arborists and one degreed Forester. Selection of this company was based on bids received for service specifications developed by our Horticultural Consultant and Landscape Manager.
The pruning will consist of raising the canopy of street trees, two times per year, to provide clearance of at least 12’ over the street and 8’ over the sidewalk. Limbs that are removed will be chipped and hauled away from the property on the same day the pruning takes place. Street trees are those located in the area between the sidewalk and the street. Yard trees are not included in this service.

If you wish to continue to maintain your own street trees, you may do so by using the Declination of Service Form to notify FCCA no later than two weeks prior to the beginning of the month of your neighborhood’s scheduled pruning. Please consider that the cost for the service will be included in your assessment, so there will be no separate charge to participate, nor will there be a credit for not participating. If you opt out of the program and later choose to join, your street trees will not be pruned until the next scheduled pruning of your neighborhood. Also, if you choose to maintain your own street trees and receive a violation notice from the City or from FCCA, you will be responsible for bringing your trees into compliance and for any fines incurred for failure to do so.
